StyroLink is a highly compressive purlin insulation material that assists with thermal efficiency on commercial metal deck roofing applications.

Manufactured from Styroboard XPS extruded polystyrene, StyroLink roof spacers have been designed specifically to allow for the installation of thicker insulation without compromising on thermal performance. Using insulation spacers on top of each roof purlin provides a break for the insulation blanket to recover to its nominal thickness while retaining high R-Values.

If insulation is installed directly against the roof deck, it becomes compressed and loses effectiveness. Utilising roof insulation spacers on roof purlins minimises air leaks, resulting in more consistent temperatures and improved air quality.

XPS foam is particularly effective for roofing spacers because of its closed cell structure, so it delivers a high compressive strength and maintains thermal performance.

Unlike many roof spacers, StyroLink is 100% Australian-made from the highest quality extruded polystyrene, with a kPa rating that exceeds BCA regulations.

StyroLink roof spacers can be custom-cut to your specific requirements. Lightweight and easy to install, they are packed in easy to handle bags to protect the product in all weather conditions.

Why buy StyroLink purlin insulation from Foamex?

  • Australian manufacturer and recycler of XPS polystyrene products and a leader in developing new and innovative uses of expanded and extruded polystyrene.
  • Adherence to stringent Australian standards with independent research, testing, and industry consultation.
  • XPS insulation is produced with no refrigerants and is free from HCFCs.
  • Foamex collects and recycles surplus EPS and XPS polystyrene from building sites, commercial clients, and recycling locations accessible to the general public.
  • It is a closed-loop production model, so unused products or those that have reached their end of life are returned and manufactured into other products, such as StyroBoard XPS, which contains up to 100% recycled polystyrene.

FAQs

What is a roof spacer?

Roof insulation spacers are installed on top of roof purlins to create space under the roofing material for insulation installation. They are made from a range of materials, including plastic, galvanised steel, or XPS polystyrene

How do roof spacers work?

Roof spacer systems create a space for insulation between a roof and the structural roof beams to improve energy efficiency. In some applications, they create an air gap between the insulation and the roof deck, reducing the transfer of heat through the roof

The Foamex StyroLink XPS foam roof spacer system is specifically designed to create space for installing thicker insulation without reducing thermal performance. The use of an XPS foam spacer on top of each roof purlin allows the insulation blanket to retain its nominal thickness and high R-Values.

How do you prevent thermal bridges for a roof?

Providing a layer of continuous insulation is the most effective way to prevent thermal bridging. StyroLink delivers thermal efficiency for commercial metal deck roofing by using this principle. It allows the insulation blanket to maintain its designated thickness, and in conjunction with the roof spacers, the maximum thermal efficiency of the roofing system is maintained.
