Styroboard EPS from Foamex is a highly versatile expanded polystyrene sheet solution ideal for the building and construction industries.

Widely used across a number of building applications, Styroboard EPS is a versatile and well proven construction material. Lightweight, strong, clean, and easy to handle, Styroboard EPS provides insulation from temperature and noise and can be used as a base for rendered panels.

Styroboard EPS is ideal for use in both commercial and residential applications including warehouses, factories, shop fronts, office buildings, houses and apartment blocks, sheds, patios, and garages.

Weather resistant with excellent thermal insulation properties and low moisture absorbency, Styroboard EPS is the perfect material for insulating coolrooms, ceilings, underslabs, walls, and flat and inverted roofs.


Polystyrene Sheet Sizes

Styroboard EPS Sheets are available in a range of thicknesses from 10mm to 600mm.

Our standard sheet sizes are as follows:


  • 5000mm x 1200mm
  • 2500mm x 1200mm


  • 4800mm x 1200mm
  • 2400mm x 1200mm


  • 5000mm x 1200mm
  • 2500mm x 1200mm 

Non-standard sheet sizes are available to be cut to your specific order, and sheets can also be ordered in varying thicknesses.


Thermal Properties

Suitable for use across steel studs, timber studs, and concrete and masonry buildings, Styroboard Expanded Polystyrene Sheets provide an efficient and economical solution for insulation. Often used on the outside of the wall stud, cavities are maintained closer to room temperature which reduces the risk of surface and cavity condensation. The thermal mass advantages of concrete and masonry walls are also improved.

Thermal conductivity for Styroboard EPS grades are shown in the reference below.

 Styroboard EPS and the Effects of Moisture

It is recommended that an effective vapour barrier be provided in situations where significant moisture content build-up is likely to occur. Styroboard EPS is generally resistant to moisture gain; however, moisture content will affect its thermal performance as with all insulating material.

There is a linear relationship between thermal resistance (R-value) loss and moisture content increase by volume. There is an approximate 2.5% loss of R-value per 1% of moisture content by volume increase (up to 20% m.c. by volume). Styroboard that has a 2% moisture content by volume will have 95% of it's dry R-value.


Our Environment

The manufacture of Styroboard EPS produces no ozone depleting gases and uses no chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).

For each kilogram of oil used in the manufacture of Styroboard insulation, savings of up to 200kg of heating fuel can be made over the average lifespan of a house. In turn this plays a positive role in reducing carbon dioxide emissions and the effects of global warming.

Styroboard EPS from Foamex does not degrade into harmful substances or contaminate ground water. There have also been no reports of any harmful effects on health that could be due to a causal relationship with Styroboard.
