Polystyrene can’t be recycled from your kerbside recycling bin, however many councils still make it possible for you to help the environment and recycle polystyrene.
Polystyrene recycling drop off stations are available through many Councils across Sydney and Melbourne at a range of locations. Once collected, your polystyrene will be recycled and re-manufactured into domestic building products.

Polystyrene is recyclable at many stages of its life cycle. During production, all manufacturing waste can be fully reprocessed back into the production mix for the manufacture of new polystyrene products. Polystyrene offcuts from building applications can be recovered and recycled during the construction process. Foamex supply bags for clean-up on site and work closely with contractors to pick up unused waste or end-of-use polystyrene, transport it safely to our manufacturing facility, and granulate it for reuse.
As EPS does not degrade or deteriorate throughout its life, meaning that it is ideal for recovery and recycling from almost all applications.
Foamex is a proud member of Recycling Expanded Polystyrene Australia (REPSA) and follows all recommended EPS distribution and clean-up responsibilities as outlined in the Pod Code of Practice.
