Foamex Geofoam expanded polystyrene blocks are a cost-effective void filler utilised by civil engineers, construction companies and landscapers across a variety of geotechnical applications.
Offering both strength and flexibility, Foamex Geofoam can provide protection from noise, vibration dampening, and even earthquake shocks. One of the many benefits of Foamex Geofoam is its lightweight nature and highly controllable qualities. Geofoam’s lighter load can reduce settlements while improving stability against bearing and slope failures. With a comparable service life to other construction materials, Foamex Geofoam retains its physical properties under engineered conditions of use and can help solve the challenges of working with soft ground, as well as slope stabilisation and retaining walls.
Traditional void filler materials such as waste tyres, wood chips or soil have higher densities and are typically unreliable due to being susceptible to weather conditions and difficult to handle. And natural materials will often become unstable over time due to instability created by lateral ground pressure and movement.
Being an inert and water-resistant material, Foamex Geofoam is long lasting and will stand the test of time. EPS is a very unique material in that it does not settle or rot and provides no nutritional value for insects or rodents. Lightweight, easy to handle and install, even during inclement weather conditions, Foamex Geofoam provides greater control of geotechnical projects.
An extremely versatile material, Foamex Geofoam can also be used in sports arenas, as road and airfield sub-grade insulation, and below-ground building segments to reduce seasonal heating and cooling requirements.
Made in Australia, Foamex Geofoam complies with Australian Building Standards AS1366.3 (1992), is recyclable, and available in a range of densities and sizes.
