The Jerrabomberra Tennis Facility is a showcase of Passive House (German: Passivhaus) and Low-e technologies encapsulated within a factory pre-fabricated high-performance building.
Laros Technologies completed the tennis facility, affectionately known as the architectural esky, as a pro-bono project and showcased the complete suite of Passivhaus solutions. As such, they invited Foamex to assist with the supply of 200-m2 of 50mm high-performance Foamex Styroboard XPS rigid insulation board as seamless under-slab insulation solution for this simple but special building.
A resilient and robust construction material boasting a high compressive strength and a superior thermal performance, Styroboard XPS is the ideal choice for a strong insulated under slab.
Passivhaus or 'Passive House' is the fastest growing energy performance standard in the world with 30,000 buildings realised to date with the majority of those since the turn of the century. The Passivhaus standards strengths lie in the simplicity of its approach; build a house that has an excellent thermal performance, exceptional airtightness with mechanical ventilation!
The Passivhaus standard can be applied to any climate in the world and works equally as well in warm climates as it does in more moderate climates. To date Passivhaus buildings have been designed and built in every European country, Australia, China, Japan, Canada the USA and South America....a research station has even been constructed to the Passivhaus standard in Antarctica!
